SAN DIEGO — Cardinal Robert W. McElroy will continue to administer the San Diego Diocese until March 11, when he will be installed as archbishop of Washington.

At that time, the College of Consultors, a body of the diocese consisting of the three auxiliary bishops and eight priests appointed by Cardinal McElroy, will convene to select a diocesan administrator to run the affairs of the diocese.

The administrator will be in charge until Pope Francis appoints a successor to Cardinal McElroy and his replacement is installed as bishop.

The College of Consultors consists of Auxiliary bishops Ramón Bejarano, Michael Pham and Felipe Pulido, and Fathers Efrain Bautista, Peter Escalante, Reynaldo Manahan, Devadhasan Masillamony, Lauro Minimo, Michael Murphy, Matthew Spahr and Edmundo Zárate Suárez.
