SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Diocese has relaunched its website, sdcatholic.org, to better serve Catholics in the San Diego-Imperial Valley region.

The website now presents all information in English and Spanish, uses responsive design for easy navigation, and is optimized for mobile use.

The site has a fresh look with the diocese’s new branding and colorful visuals, all to welcome the community to its ministries, services and events and invite members to grow in their faith.

The site presents greater information about the diocese, including the 96 Catholic parishes and 47 elementary and secondary schools that serve the faithful. The parishes section, for instance, offers an enhanced interactive map to find the nearest parish, and lists of Masses in various languages and Holy Days of Obligation.

The homepage links to pages about the faith and how to become Catholic, resources for the Jubilee Year, and the latest news stories about the local Catholic community. There also are links to employment opportunities at the diocese, as well as to a section on giving.

Like its predecessor, the site offers information about the diocese’s leadership, administration  and pastoral offices.

Now, however, visitors will be able to easily find information and contacts related to certain topics, such as annulments and sacramental records. They also will find information about ministries that serve distinct communities, such as the divorced and separated, children and adults with special needs, and families facing serious challenges, among others.

They also will be able to explore an expanded section on diocesan vocations, including sections for priests, deacons and religious women.

The diocese first launched a website in the 1990s to facilitate governing its schools and parishes. The site had only a few pages at the time. It has updated its website several times since then.

The new website, developed by the Office of Communication, has nearly 240 pages. The diocese’s goal is to welcome and serve the 1.4 million Catholics that call the San Diego-Imperial Valley region home, capturing the vibrancy and joy of the local Church.
