SAN DIEGO — A group of Hindu and Buddhist guests had the opportunity to experience the Catholic Mass during an Oct. 4 visit to St. Augustine High School.

The visitors from the Hsi Fang Temple in University Heights and the Shiva Vishnu Temple in Poway also were given a tour of the school.

The homily at the Mass was preached by Father Brad Easterbrooks, the Diocese of San Diego’s secretary for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs, who was invited to reflect on the topic of interreligious dialogue.

Last spring, Saints students in a Comparative Religions class taught by Steven Bier visited local churches and temples of other faith groups. According to the Saints’ Facebook page, welcoming their non-Catholic guests was an opportunity “to return the favor.”
