The Office of the Cardinal has announced that, with permission from his provincial, Father Benjamin Le, SVD, has been appointed pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish, effective June 4.

Parish to Host Ministry Fair
The Immaculata Parish, located on the campus of the University of San Diego, will hold ministry fair on Sunday, June 30, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
After the parish’s Sunday Masses, there will be booths showcasing different organizations and ministries. Attendees can learn about volunteer opportunities related to life, peace, and justice across the San Diego area.
The diocesan Office for Life, Peace, and Justice itself will have a booth with resources and information about restorative justice, the culture of life, creation care, and more.

Petco Park Hosting ‘Catholic Night’
The annual “Catholic Night” at Petco Park will be held on Friday, July 12.
The game, which pits the San Diego Padres against the Atlanta Braves, will begin at 6:40 p.m.
In past years, many Catholics have attended “Catholic Night” individually or in parish groups. The game allows Catholics to witness to their faith in the public square alongside fellow Catholics while enjoying America’s pastime.
Contact your parish office to find out if your fellow parishioners are purchasing tickets together.

Widowed, Divorced Invited to One-Day Retreat
CARLSBAD – Coping with Life Alone in the Beginning is a one-day retreat experience for those grieving the loss of a spouse through death, divorce or separation.
It will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 27, at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Carlsbad.
The retreat is designed to foster self-awareness during one’s own healing journey, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and with the accompaniment of peer facilitators. It promises to be a day filled with listening and sharing, spiritual companionship and reflection.
The cost to attend is $50, which includes lunch and snacks.

Christian Initiation Classes Offered in Chinese
The OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) process, formerly known as RCIA, is offered locally in the Chinese language.
Presented by San Diego’s Chinese Catholic Community, classes will be held every Sunday from Sept. 8 through April 20 at St. Therese of Carmel Parish in Carmel Valley. Each class will run from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Homeschool Community Opening Third Campus
Holy Hearts Academy is opening a third campus for a Classical Catholic homeschool community and is seeking passionate and committed families to join it.
Families will meet for a weekly class day at Our Mother of Confidence Parish in the University City/UTC area.

Magnificat Forming East County Chapter
Magnificat, a ministry for Catholic women, is looking to form a new chapter in East County.
The group exists to evangelize and encourage Catholic women to grow in holiness through the power and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The organization’s essential function is the Magnificat Meal, which provides an opportunity for fellowship, praise, personal testimony and intercessory prayer.

Catholics Can ‘Encounter’ Jesus
Encounter, a Spirit-filled evening of inspiring music, prayer and Eucharistic adoration, is held on the second Friday of each month at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Rancho Peñasquitos.
Sponsored by the parish’s Hearts of Fire Ministry, the event runs from 7 to 8 p.m.
Upcoming dates in 2024 include: July 12 (canceled), Aug. 9, Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13.

Men Invited to Join ‘Rosary Crusade’
The Men’s Rosary Crusade gathers at 9 a.m., every first Saturday of the month, at the corner of 6th & Laurel in Balboa Park. All men are welcome.
The rosary intentions are for reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for the conversion of America, for families and for the unborn.
